User ReviewsRated by: goldstrike Rating: 06-14-2007 04:33 PMReview Text First let me say, we are NOT hard to please, so to rate it this way, it was really bad.
We went based on recommendation on a topic thread here and our endeavor to find any good Chinese in the area.
This was not it.
First the table was greasy and she came and wiped with a dirty rag. Was still greazy, sticky, elbows were glued to table. (I know elbows should not be on table)
Had lunch chicken chow mein, fried prawns, sweet and sour pork and paid extra for fried noodles.
Came with green salad or sweet and sour soup and had the salad, it is was cold, fresh and green. Nothing else in it, truly green salad. Ranch dressing was okay...but would have been nice to see anything slivered into the greeness.
Little did we know that worse was to come.
I did like that the can of coke was cold and the plastic glass had ice. Ever notice that many chinese restaurants do not put ice in their drinks?
The waitress was unfriendly and loud. Can they not hear? Just screaming at us to order.
Anyway: prawns, were deeply fried and tough. Thin and narrow. Had to cut the coating away to find the prawn.
The sauce dipping (the red sweet and sour type sauce) was the consistantly of tea. It just ran and ran, that thin.
Did not taste bad, but if you dipped it did not stay on the prawn or sweet and sour but ran off it into a mess on the platter.
Sweet and sour had no sauce on it, I guess you were to pour the thin sauce on it. The nuggets were hard and not sure pork. I guess they were. They would not dare not be.....but.....
Ate about 3. The serving was generous, but did not want it.
The chow mein was the best, as noted on ILGP it was white chicken. But no veg. at all in it and the fried noodles were more like wet spagetti and lukewarm. Add to that the whole plate was running with water type liquid that probably came off the noodles?
I ate at the most 10% and asked for restroom, came back and it was gone. Now, I was not going to bring it home, but should have been asked.
I did see others with take home containers, but they seemed to be regulars and were greeted better than us.
Meal was $8.35 and gave $10 and got $l back. No change......I still tipped, but not generously as won't be back.
fortune cookie ONE only.
Atmosphere, kind of hole in the wall Chinese with green walls, red and gold banners. Not so bad...old booths.
Amazingly, there were people in there, but we were looking longingly at Taylors accross the street and wishing we had gone there.
This is not rated an F, because so far, NOT SICK.
Now on the gp side of CJ there was another chinese restaurant that had many, many cars in the lot, but did not go there or try it. Had to be better than this.
